We all have memorable film experiences. What are some of yours?

• The first scary movie that made you sleep with the lights on?
• Or one that opened your eyes to a part of the world that you never new existed?
• A movie you saw on your first date?
• Sharing a childhood favorite with your child – delighting in the joy of discovery you see in their eyes?

Film is a powerful art form, and it is the experiences we have with film that can transform our lives. SIFF does just that: our mission is to create experiences that allow us to discover extraordinary films together. Through these transformative experiences, we foster a community that is more informed, more aware, and more alive.

Today, SIFF provides hundreds of experiences through programs like the Seattle International Film Festival, reaching nearly 200,000 people annually. And yet there is so much more we can do for our community. With your help we will:

• Expand our rich year round programming, providing more opportunities to learn from and enjoy the art of film.
• Establish first-class educational programs for the community. SIFF’s educational programs only grow in importance as economic pressures threaten many arts programs.
• Ensure that SIFF and the programs we offer thrive for decades to come, extending these experiences to future generations.

There is no way we can achieve our goals as we currently exist – to extend our mission, we need a stable location from which to expand; a destination for diverse film experiences. This is the purpose of the Film Center.
• A dedicated location consistently available to the public, where the art of film is always available through exhibits, presentations, and film programming.
• A flexible space with resources for educational programs, expanding the horizons of both youth and lifelong learners.
• A central location where film groups and individual filmmakers can share their craft.
• A stabilizing long-term addition to the artistic presence in Seattle Center and, by extension, the greater Puget Sound area. This will ensure not only SIFF’s health, but strengthen our entire creative ecosystem.
