The Man Who Fell to Earth
Nicolas Roeg’s elegiac film stars David Bowie as an alien—Thomas Jerome Newton— who comes to Earth to get water for his thirsty planet. The ethereal visitor creates a technology company to earn the billions necessary to complete his mission, but although Newton has studied well for his trip to Earth, he’s not quite prepared for the venality of earthlings.
