In the fortress you will need more than men and swords. You will need the power of the glaive.

On Krull, a distant planet with a decidedly medieval bent, everyone is excited for the wedding of Prince Colwyn and Princess Lyssa, as such nuptials promise to bring an end to two waging rival kingdoms. That is, until an alien entity (the Beast) and his minions (the Slayers) crash the party, murder everybody in sight, wound the Prince, and kidnap the bride-to-be. Powered by vengeance, the love of his betrothed, and a sick five-sided boomerang-like stabbing implement known as a glaive, Colwyn befriends a clan of convicts (whose ranks include the likes of Liam Neeson and Robbie Coltrane) and sets out for the Black Fortress. From Peter Yates, the director of Bullitt and Breaking Away. '80s trivia: The red armed guard costumes make a hilarious reappearance in the third act of Pee-wee’s Big Adventure. - Marcus Gorman
