Nick Dear's adaptation of Frankenstein, based on the classic novel by Mary Shelley, features a creature childlike in his innocence but grotesque in form. Cast out into a hostile universe by his horror-struck maker, the friendless creature meets with cruelty wherever he goes. Increasingly desperate and vengeful, he determines to track down his creator and strike a terrifying deal.

An audience and critical favorite, Frankenstein enjoyed a sell-out run at the National Theatre, and went on to win the 2012 Olivier Award for Best Actor for both Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller.
