Friday August 31st - 1 Reel Film Festival Kick-off, a free screening of award winning shorts from all corners of the globe to help kick off Bumbershoot weekend.

SIFF Cinema is pleased to join forces with Bumbershoot, Seattle’s Music & Arts Festival to put on 1 Reel Film Festival. We’ll present 25 programs of extraordinary short films in 4 days! Live action, animated, narrative, documentary, music videos—everything that can be expressed by moving image in 30 minutes or less will have a chance on SIFF’s big screen! This year’s 1 Reel will feature films by filmmakers from around the world as well as the best from our own backyard. Opening Friday night will be an extra special free screening of award winning shorts from around the world. At least one program in 1 Reel—Planet Cinema—will highlight Bumbershoot’s new green consciousness, and one program will be devoted to filmmakers who’ve participated in SIFF’s Fly Filmmaking Challenge. Director John Sayles will be on hand to present clips from his new film Honeydripper, featuring Keb Mo and the Honeydrippers! And much, much more!
