Patterson Hood grew up in North Alabama. Muscle Shoals Sound was the studio co-founded by his father David Hood, who also worked in the legendary Alabama recording facility as a producer and session player. Patterson's formative experiences watching the works-in-progress of iconic artists such as Bob Seger, Paul Simon, Traffic, and Wilson Pickett helped shape his love of rock-n-roll and laid the groundwork for his later musical career as both a solo artist and frontman for Drive-By Truckers. At this rare and truly unique event, father and son will share the stage, performing songs, trading stories, and reflecting on the magical properties of that space.

The documentary Muscle Shoals screens at SIFF on Wed. May 29, 7:00 p.m., SIFF Cinema Uptown, Thurs. May 30, 4:30 p.m., The Egyptian Theatre. Local guitarist Jeff Fielder (Mark Lanegan, Sera Cahoone) opens.
