Zombies walk among us in Dead Meat Walking, a spellbinding, visually horrific, and decadently delightful film. From Los Angeles to Pittsburgh, Seattle to Toronto and around the globe, they stagger through the streets—gory, rotting spectacles on an endless search to quell their insatiable hunger for human brains and flesh. Documentarian Omar J. Pineda follows the international phenomenon known as the "zombie walk" from its origins (there were only six participants at the first one) to walks attracting more than 15,000 undead zealots in an attempt to set the Guinness world record. Pineda delves into the psyches of zombie aficionados, who've decided that making themselves up like zombies is not only an avocation but also the ultimate tribute to the literature, films, and legends of the walking dead. Featuring interviews with Norman Reedus, Academy Award®-winning makeup artist and director Tom Savini—who provides new insights into his collaboration with the godfather of zombie cinema, George Romero—Dead Meat Walking is a fun and riveting documentary that offers a unique focus into the extraordinary and ghoulish pastime that has devoured the imaginations of zombie fans.
Omar J. Pineda has been a photographer since 1992. He is based in Los Angeles, California.
