The Kings of Summer is a hilarious coming-of-age film about Joe Toy (Nick Robinson), a teenager who builds a house in the woods that changes his life forever. Heartfelt, funny, and honest, it's an unsentimental look at growing up that is sure to be an audience favorite. Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts from a script by Chris Galletta, The Kings of Summer follows three friends that break free of their suburban constraints and head into the woods to live off the land. Tired of how they are treated by their respective parents, they each yearn for the type of freedom that can only come from true independence. As the summer wears on and their parents scour the surrounding area for signs of their missing children, the boys' new found freedom is interrupted by the arrival of Kelly (Erin Moriarty), an outsider that upsets the delicate balance of friendship by introducing a romantic rivalry that threatens to bring down the house. The stellar cast, led by Nick Robinson (Joe), Gabriel Basso (Patrick), Moises Arias (Biaggio), and Erin Moriarty (Kelly), also features Nick Offerman (Frank Toy), Megan Mullally (Mrs. Keenan), and Alison Brie (Heather Toy) in what is certain to be one of this year's most crowd-pleasing films.
Jordan Vogt-Roberts is the co-creator and director of the Comedy Central television show Mash Up. His award-winning work on the web and with branded content has reached millions of viewers and launched a career in commercials. The Kings of Summer is his debut feature film.
