Divorced, 30-something Yvan is a relatively well-respected schoolteacher, and still hunky enough to get attention from women, but overall, he's pretty washed up. His wife left him to live with her new lover in Thailand. His teenage daughters moved out to live with his OCD but lovable sister Ariane, and they aren't too wild about their dad: one of them is organizing a boycott of the school cafeteria and the other thinks he is a womanizer. He is depressed and tired of his life in Paris, and is ready to leave his teaching gig at a public school for a cushier position at a private school in Brittany. But just when Yvan decides to give up, he feels obliged to adopt a reticent little boy named Léo—the product of his ex-wife's love affair with another man. Léo moves in, and although he doesn't talk much, and insists on carrying around a raggedy doll, Yvan tries his best to care for the boy. Around the same time, Yvan starts a flirtation with a fiery, beautiful woman, who seems interested in Yvan despite the many failings that seem so obvious to the other people in his life. With these two new relationships, Yvan finds that he does, in fact, have reasons to stay and rebuild his life. With great performances by Vanessa Paradis and Denis Ménochet and an uplifting acoustic indie soundtrack, Low Profile examines the way people can get lost, but eventually begin to find each other, and themselves, again.
