Ever get the feeling you were being watched? For this group of five friends on a backpacking trip in the Cascade Mountains, it’s most likely their collective past that is catching up to them. The wilderness camping trip is planned six months after the mysterious death of their mutual friend, Sophia (Danielle Barnum). While they are mourning their friend, another tragedy occurs, revealing long-held resentments and suspicions within the group. As their cohesion breaks down, the friends must survive one more night in the wilderness, where mistrust grows, along with the tension. Is there someone else stalking them out in the woods, or is the killer sitting around the campfire with the rest of the group? To unravel the mystery, each person must piece together what happened to their friend Sophia, whose killer was never found, and what connection she had to a sleazy bar owner named Dan Liebning (Sean Nelson, My Effortless Brilliance, Treatment). This intelligent, tightly-plotted thriller by first-time director Joey Johnson makes brilliant use of Pacific Northwest scenery and includes many Seattle actors in the ensemble cast, including David S. Hogan, Conner Marx, Tara Simmons, and Nelson, former lead singer of the Seattle band Harvey Danger. Shadowed is a fast-paced, heart-pounding murder mystery with enough plot twists to keep you guessing whodunit until sunrise, and may make you reconsider your next camping trip.
Seattleite Joey Johnson first got into filmmaking in college, where he created several comedic videos. In 2005 he teamed up with other Seattle-area filmmakers to producing short films based on his scripts, including Late on a Friday Night (2005), Intrusion (2006), Truth Be Told (2008), and Early Risers (2009). Shadowed is his first feature-length film.
