A vacation on the tropical beaches of South East Asia leads to a psychologically complex mystery when one of a group of friends goes missing in this gripping thriller from acclaimed Australian actor Kieran Darcy-Smith (Animal Kingdom). Dave (Joel Edgerton, Zero Dark Thirty) and his wife Alice (Felicity Price) are accompanying her younger sister (Teresa Palmer) on a spontaneous trip to Cambodia. Organized by her new beau Jeremy (Antony Starr), about whom they know very little save that he is in the "import business", the vacation begins serenely. Then a night of wild dancing and drinking under the full moon inspires them to share a handful of ecstasy pills...and Jeremy disappears. Back home in Sydney, the truth of that evening is obscured, and Dave is peculiarly evasive with an inquiring police detective, causing trust to disintegrate and relationships to fracture. With a style that shifts between dream-like and naturalistic, Darcy-Smith reveals the events leading to the disappearance through non-linear fragments of memory, building an unsettling intimacy. As moments of sun-drenched pleasure play out alongside horrifying truths, their dream vacation becomes a waking nightmare.
