Assistive Listening Devices

All SIFF Cinema venues and Seattle International Film Festival external venues are equipped with Assistive Listening devices. Check-in with the Cinema or Festival Venue Manager to locate the devices at your venue.

With the exception of Shoreline Community College, All SIFF Cinema venues and Seattle International Film Festival external venues are equipped with Closed Captioning and Descriptive Listening devices, but services may vary per film. Call 206-464-5830 or email info@siff.net for more information.

Open Captioning

SIFF is excited to bring more open caption screenings to better welcome deaf and hard of hearing audiences, as well as anyone who benefits from viewing captions.

Check our Open Caption Screenings page to see which films will be shown each week with open captions on Tuesdays and Sunday matinees.

All SIFF Cinema venues and Seattle International Film Festival external venues will remain equipped with Assistive Listening devices on days when open captioning is not offered.

ASL Interpretation

ASL interpretation is offered free of charge during requested screenings and events at SIFF. To receive sign language interpretation by request, submit a query at least two weeks in advance of the performance to: info@siff.net. Seats will be reserved for optimal viewing. ASL interpretation is subject to availability.

Virtual Programming Captioning

Whenever possible, auto-generated captioning will be available for SIFF’s live virtual events, such as our Education classes and live film introductions and Q&A’s.

Select films and other pre-recorded programs will also be presented with the option to turn on captioning, whenever captioning is available.

Wheelchair Accessibility

Service Animals

Persons with disabilities and their service animals that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for those persons with disabilities are welcome at SIFF Cinema venues.* Pets are not allowed and will be turned away. Under the ADA, any service animal whose task is to provide protections, emotional support, well-being, comfort or companionship is not considered a service animal and will not be allowed into the SIFF Cinema venues.

All service animals must remain by the handler's side at all times and must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered, unless these devices interfere with the service animal's work or the individual's disability prevents using these devices. In that case, the individual must maintain control of the animal through voice, signal, or other effective controls. Service animals must be housebroken. Anyone bringing an animal will be responsible for and liable for any damage or injury caused by the animal. SIFF reserves the right to ask service animals to leave if they become disruptive.SIFF abides by the Washington State Human Rights Commission's Guidelines for Service Animals and Discrimination.
