For years Hong Kong filmmakers relied heavily on wire work to tell stories of the supernatural or of heroes with super-human abilities. Modern action films are indelibly marked by the influence of their work, as evidenced by the abundant use of wire in the filming of fight scenes. Wire stunts have become a staple in the industry as a means of creating larger and more exciting action sequences, with performers flying through the air, running up walls, and even being 'assisted' during more basic moves for greater effect. Get a look behind the scenes as instructors from the International Stunt School explore elements of Hong Kong action scenes with live demonstrations of modern wire work by stunt performers and the people who fly them. See how these stunts are rigged and what techniques are used to make them successful for film.

Tickets for the 2010 Dinner & A Movie series at Volterra will be available on the day of the event at the Volterra Drawing Room in Ballard.
