Events/Northwest Production Market

We are pleased to launch the Northwest Production Market (NWPM), co-presented with IFP/Seattle, at this year’s festival. This market, modeled after the IFP market in New York, matches potentially viable film projects with interested production companies and financiers. The focus is on expanding the opportunity for filmmaking in the Pacific Northwest. In order to qualify for the NWPM, film projects must have a production budget of four million or less and the ability to shoot at least 90% in the Northwest.

This is a highly selective market, not a contest. Consideration will only be given to projects by capable production teams that desire to exhibit commercially viable work while still maintaining a high level of creative excellence, displaying a realistic assessment of their budget requirements, and planning to use Northwest production locations. Chosen projects will be given the opportunity to pitch directly to prominent production companies and financiers. Local screenwriters, producers, and directors were invited to submit projects for consideration and the Market will be held the third week of the festival.

Other partners in the NWPM include Northwest Film Forum, 911 Media Arts Center, Women in Film/Seattle, Northwest Film Center, and TheFilmSchool.
As a complement to the Market, SIFF has developed the Northwest Production Forums. These forums will provide filmmakers with valuable industry information and insight about developing future projects for submission to the NWPM.
