The Banquet
In an unnamed kingdom, the representatives of a number of warring factions gather for a spectacular feast of revenge. Loosely based on Hamlet, Chinese director Fen Xiaogang’s lavish tenth century spectacle recalls recent martial arts epics, but its true heart lies within its stately, intriguing chamber drama.
