Buddha Collapsed Out Of Shame, Jun 04, 2008

    By Jeff Cavanaugh

“Perhaps Buddha collapsed because the film was so wretched. The plight of children in a war zone notwithstanding, the protracted scenes of imitative violence evoking Lord Of The Flies was excruciating. The director is to be given credit for daring to criticize the Taliban in this way, especially” … full review

    A bit uneven, Jun 12, 2008

    By J Daniel Scott

“Makhmalbaf creates a compelling film that condemns the Taliban rule of her country and honors those who lost their lives fighting the Taliban all told through the innocence of a child and the simplicity of a child’s game. Shifting from moments of sheer beauty (the final scene of Baktay in the wheat” … full review
