NT Live: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time

June 20 - 22, 2014

Now on Broadway, the National Theatre presents this special encore of their original adaptation of Mark Haddon's best-selling novel, the story of an autistic young man who is suspected of a violent act, leading him on a frightening journey that upturns his world.

At seven minutes past midnight, fifteen-year-old Christopher is discovered standing beside a dog that has been speared to death with a garden fork. Under suspicion for the crime, he begins to investigate the mystery, recording facts in his notebook. Autistic since birth, Christopher has an extraordinary brain, but has never ventured alone beyond the end of his road, detests being touched, and distrusts strangers. He is about to embark on a frightening journey that upturns his world.

Mark Haddon's international best-selling novel has been adapted by award-winning playwright Simon Stephens, and directed by Marianne Elliott (War Horse) in a richly theatrical production that was captured live from the National's most intimate theatre.
