SIFF FutureWave

Expanding Cinema Through Education

This free program offers youth a direct link to SIFF Cinema, the Seattle International Film Festival, and our diverse local filmmaking community. SIFF FutureWave currently offers many of these programs year-round:

  • Classroom visits by filmmakers from around the world lend real-world application across all school subjects
  • Special student screenings of films with accompanying study guides and post-film discussions. We also coordinate throughout the year with teachers to expand their classroom curriculum using cinema
  • The FutureWave Shorts Program presents the best of youth short filmmaking from around the world

  • A special selection of films programmed for a teen audience.
  • SuperFly, a youth filmmaking workshop modeled after our successful Fly Filmmaking Challenge (developed in partnership with Longhouse Media)
  • Digital technology workshops
  • Professional development workshops for educators (developed in partnership with Reel Grrls)
