Brazil | 2018 | 100 minutes | Aly Muritiba

When a teenage girl's cellphone sex video with a former boyfriend goes viral, she commits a brutal, desperate act for all the world to see, sending shockwaves throughout her high school and suburban community in this striking drama from Brazil.

Happy and full of life, pretty 16-year-old Tati (newcomer Tifanny Dopke) lives a life typical of any other teen within her middle class Brazilian suburb, one filled with friends, parties, and the ubiquitous presence of glowing smartphones and all-important social media accounts. In quiet pursuit of sensitive, brooding classmate Renet (Giovanni de Lorenzi), Tati finally manages to attract the boy's attention when she discovers that her smartphone has mysteriously disappeared. Overnight, Tati's world is upended as a sex video made with a former boyfriend is leaked online, quickly going viral and making the once-popular teen a school pariah, leading her to commit a shocking, desperate act for all the world to see. With the wound of Tati's actions still raw, and still reeling from the shock of his parents' sudden separation, Renet must face his own actions that may have contributed to his classmate's humiliation. In this brilliant new film from co-writer (with Jessica Candal) and director Aly Muritiba, we are forced to reckon with our place in a culture grown oblivious to the wonder of the world around it, where experiences are not real unless posted for mass consumption and everyone is desperate for true connection.
