Spain | 2017 | 112 minutes | Carlos Marques-Marcet

A lesbian couple (Natalia Tena and Oona Chaplin) living in bohemian style on a riverboat along London's picturesque Regent's Canal find themselves on a bittersweet journey of love and its vagaries when they decide to start a family by asking an old college friend to donate his sperm.

"Like the boat she lives on, Tena perfectly captures Kat's unfiltered and untethered way of life, content to simply float along until met with the next great adventure. " Ally Johnson - The Playlist

After his debut feature film 10.000 KM (SIFF, 2014) became an international success, Carlos Marques-Marcet returns with this alternative dark rom-com about diverging needs in a relationship. Young gay couple Kat (Natalia Tena, the Harry Potter series) and Eva (Oona Chaplin, "Game of Thrones") enjoy a simple bohemian existence on a tightly packed riverboat chugging its way along London's channels, a life inspired in no small part by Eva's former commune-living mother. Enter Roger, Kat's jovial bumbling friend from Barcelona who, along with his good humor, also brings sperm (his "little fishies") needed to create a human that Kat herself can't provide. A hasty drunken agreement is made, some little fishies are artificially inseminated, and Eva's long-awaited pregnancy begins. One problem: No one—not a boat remodeler, nor a part-time salsa instructor, nor a general vagabond, is sure of what role they want or are capable of playing in the baby's life, their confidence waning to dire levels as the gravitas of a child looms large. Smart yet accessible, Kat and Eva's emotional trip offers a genuine meditation on modern love and family.
