What happened to Ida? This dark thriller mystery focuses on lovers Sander (Jonas Holt Schmidt) and Ida (Angela Bundalovic), whose desire for intimacy is so intense that they isolate themselves from the rest of the world—without even leaving the city. When Ida disappears, the only witness to what may have happened to her is her lover. In their quest for their missing loved one, Ida's father, Porath (Zlatko Buric), and brother, Victor (Vilmer Trier Brøgger), aren't afraid to go to dark places. In Porath's vacant apartment, they interrogate Sander in hopes of solving the mystery of what led Ida to vanish and where she could be now. As Sander spins his tale, it becomes clear that he may not be the most reliable narrator. Copenhagen Does Not Exist is a sumptuous, somber film that oozes Scandinavian minimalism. This film is completely captivating, with riveting performances and a tightly edited runtime.
