With work spanning the world from Palestine to Paraguay, the themes and perspectives of SIFF’s Official Competition explore the scope of emotion and environment.
The nine films in the Official Competition illustrate themes of violent revenge (Garbage), demonic possession (The Devil's Doorway), and politically scandalous relationships (The Reports on Sarah and Saleem), as well as empathy (Something Useful), musical expression (Team Hurricane), and family (Leave No Trace). These films, as different as they may seem, all ruminate on a common theme of finding yourself and staying true to your convictions. These films represent some of the Festival's best, and should be at the top of your movie-watching lists.
The winner as chosen by a jury will be announced at the Golden Space Needle Awards and receives a cash prize of $5,000.
Jurors: James Faust, Lael Loewenstein, and Ania Trezbiatowska.
