Hailing from the valleys of Hutoai in the Far North of New Zealand, Hanelle is of Maori (Ngapuhi, Hgati Tuwharetoa) and Lebanese lineage. In 2011 she graduated with a Bahelor of Performing Arts in Acting for Screen & Theatre for Unitec; one of New Zealand's top Performing Arts academies. In 2013 Hanelle completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Directing, Writing and Screen Production. She has since been an active member in New Zealand's Screen and Theatre industry as an actress (Orphans and Kingdoms, Hillary) and key creative amassing credits for producing, writing, directing and casting. As a film maker Hanelle is passionate about Maori and Pasifika stories, particularly those with strong female perspectives, social realism and distinctive next generation voices.
