Justine Barda's SIFF 2017 Picks

Cinematography by Sebastien Scandiuzzi | Editing by Derek Edamura

Justine wants to present audiences with films that are unusual and atypical. Her favorite festival film this year is Hedi, which tells the story of a Tunisian car salesman who undergoes a personal revelation amidst the country’s political revolution. Justine calls her second pick, My Happy Family, “a gem of a film.” It focuses on a mother from the country of Georgia, who wants something more out of busy family life – and seizes it by renting her own apartment. Justine’s last pick is A Dragon Arrives, an Iranian film so unlike any of its predecessors that it prompts her to call it “spectacularly beautiful.”
