SIFF Cinema Egyptian | Noir City
Wardrobe mistress Edith Head has a field day dressing up a colorful cast, including Mary Astor as the owner of the Purple Sage casino, home to lowlife gamblers, duplicitous deputies, and rebellious kin, in this smoldering love triangle set against the Technicolor glory of the Nevada desert. Noir City curator Eddie Muller describes it as “the gayest movie ever produced in Hollywood’s golden era.”
