SIFF Cinema Egyptian | Noir City
Teenaged orphan Mary Gibson (Kim Hunter in her film debut) heads to Greenwich Village in search of her missing sister, a beloved businesswoman who has mysteriously disappeared. She encounters inexplicable occurrences and strange characters, all rendered in foreboding chiaroscuro by DP Nick Musuraca. A haunting film, filled with more dread than shocks, a signature element of producer Val Lewton’s oeuvre.
