Ex-con private eye Bradford Galt (Mark Stevens) arrives in New York City after serving two years in the joint, having been framed for the murder of his former partner. When ghosts from the past turn up, he enlists the aid of his new tart-tongued secretary (Lucille Ball) to help him track down the true culprit. Both a definitive example of the genre, and an often humorous send-up.
