New Directors Panel - Virtual Discussion
Hear from Seattle International Film Festival programmers as they discuss the importance of the Festival’s New Directors Competition, share insights into their selection process, and recall some of their favorite competition films from years past.
July 2, 2020
The Closing Weekend of the Seattle International Film Festival has always been an exciting time for audiences and filmmakers alike, as they look forward to the announcement of the year's jury award winners. But have you ever wondered how specific films are selected for competition, or what being chosen for a competition means for the filmmakers? Each year, the New Directors Competition Committee meets for several months to select a talented group of international directors for their competition, so a conversation with them is a great place to start.
Join us for a Zoom-based roundtable discussion at 7:00pm PST with the programmers of the Seattle International Film Festival's New Directors Competition Committee (Maryna Ajaja, Justine Barda, Laura Good, and Stan Shields) as they discuss the importance of the competition, share insights into the considerations and challenges of their selection process, and recall some of their favorite competition films from years past.
Register using the form below by 4:00pm PST on Thursday, July 2 to receive the Zoom meeting details. On the day of the event, you will receive an email at 6:00pm from firstname.lastname@example.org with the Zoom meeting ID and password.
Please note: the Zoom discussion will be recorded.
