Ends Thu Mar 5 | This true-life thriller stars Benedict Cumberbatch as the brilliant Cambridge mathematician, cryptanalyst, and computer scientist Alan Turing, who was hailed as a hero for cracking the elusive Enigma code during World War II, then later persecuted and sentenced for being gay.

A pioneer of modern-day computing, Turing famously lead a motley group of scholars, linguists, chess champions and intelligence officers, to crack the unbreakable codes of Germany's World War II Enigma machine at Britain's top-secret Government Code and Cypher School. Years later, during the winter of 1952, British authorities entered his home to investigate a reported burglary. They instead arrested Turing himself on charges of 'gross indecency', leading to a devastating conviction for what was then a criminal offense–homosexuality.

"The richness and complexity of Turing's character make this portrayal of an arrogant, difficult, sure-of-himself individual the role of Cumberbatch's career." – Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times
