Clueless 20th Anniversary Makeover Party
November 9, 2015
SIFF Cinema Uptown | Big Screen Classics
Celebrate the 20th anniversary of Amy Heckerling’s bubbly teen masterpiece – and the 200th anniversary of the beloved novel that inspired it, Jane Austen's "Emma" – at this special screening with free fuzzy bracelets, a très chic raffle, our custom “Rollin’ with the Homies” '90s music video preshow, and a special Makeover Intermission! Co-presented by Book-it Repertory Theatre.
200 years ago, Jane Austen wrote a beloved novel: a droll romance about a genteel English girl named Emma, a spoiled mistress who is nevertheless patient with her loving father, fiercely intelligent yet uninterested in learning, and obsessed with playing matchmaker, even though she herself vows never to get married.
20 years ago, Amy Heckerling directed a beloved movie: a quirky teen comedy about a rich SoCal debutante named Cher, a sassy high schooler who adores her daddy, is smart about pop culture but totally uninterested in school, and insists on helping a new student get the ultimate makeover so she can land a hot guy, even though she herself finds the boys in her school icky.
Celebrate the anniversaries of both of these landmark tales at this special screening co-presented by SIFF Cinema and Book-it Repertory Theatre, whose stage production of “Emma” runs December 2, 2015 – January 3, 2016.
