OUT 1: Noli me tangere

January 24, 2016

This spellbinding, and mostly improvised, tale threads together multiple stories and characters in Paris, 1970, including two theater troupes rehearsing plays by Aeschylus, a female con artist who seduces her victims, and a deaf-mute busker on a quest to uncover a mysterious secret society. As a conspiracy develops, the protagonists’ stories start to intertwine, resulting in a cinematic experience which, as Rivette himself put it: “the fiction swallows everything up and then self-destructs.”
