The Fencer

Finland | 2015 | 93 minutes | Klaus Härö

January 14 - 16, 2016

Loosely based on the life of the legendary fencing master Endel Nelis, director Klaus Härö's handsomely filmed and expertly acted drama follows Nelis in the 1950s as he settles in Estonia after escaping the Russian secret police, and begins teaching and inspiring a new generation of students in the sport of fencing. But when his students want to participate in a tournament in Leningrad, Endel must make a choice: risk everything and take them to the tournament, or put his safety first and disappoint them.
Thur Jan 14 pre-film reception beginning at 6:00pm. Hosted by Swea.
