The Thanhouser Studio and the Birth of American Cinema
July 30, 2016
SIFF Film Center | Only $5.00, Free for SIFF Members*
Filmmaker Ned Thanhouser recounts the story of the independent film studio co-founded in 1909 by his grandparents, Edwin and Gertrude Thanhouser, which produced an astonishing number of innovative, groundbreaking pictures before closing their doors – and burning the negatives! Ned has spent years tracking down lost Thanhouser films, and joins us in person for a Q&A as well as screening some of the films he has uncovered.
*SIFF Members receive free admission at the door only based on ticket availability. To guarantee a seat in advance, a non-refundable $5 ticket purchase required.
