Australia | 2013 | 100 minutes | Anne Fontaine

September 6 - 12, 2013

This gripping tale of love, lust, and friendship charts the passionate affairs embarked upon by two lifelong friends (Robin Wright and Naomi Watts) who fall in love with each other's sons. As featured in SIFF 2013.

Lil (Naomi Watts) and Roz (Robin Wright) have been best friends since childhood. In middle age, they find themselves single with adult sons who are also friends. With summer upon them, the group spends their days sunning on the beach and swimming in the sea. One night after a dinner at which everyone has had a bit too much to drink, Roz's son makes a pass at Lil. When Lil's son discovers their secret, he follows suit with Roz. What begins as a Chardonnay-fueled misstep soon takes on a life of its own, with repercussions that prove hard to predict or contain.

Based on the novella by Doris Lessing, Adore (formerly titled Two Mothers when it screened in SIFF 2013) is the English language debut of French director Anne Fontaine, and is a story that radiates with intoxicating sensuality while exploring the intricacies of love, family, morality and passion.
