All Is Lost

Robert Redford stars in director J.C. Chandor's (Margin Call) gripping adventure about one man's battle for survival after his sailboat is destroyed at sea.
An unnamed man (the legendary Robert Redford in a riveting and demanding performance) is deep into a solo voyage in the Indian Ocean when his yacht collides with an abandoned floating shipping container. With his navigation equipment and radio disabled, he sails unknowingly into the path of a violent storm. Using only a sextant and nautical maps, he is forced to rely on ocean currents to carry him into a shipping lane in hopes of hailing a passing vessel. But with the sun unrelenting, sharks circling and his meager supplies dwindling, the ever-resourceful sailor soon finds himself staring his mortality in the face.
After his Academy Award nominated film Margin Call, which delicately layered multiple characters and story lines with dense dialogue, director J.C. Chandor takes a different approach, focusing on a single character in an almost wordless adventure. With an emotional score by Alex Ebert (Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros), All Is Lost is the down-to-earth version Gravity; a visceral and powerfully moving tribute to ingenuity and resilience in the face of overwhelming odds.
