USA | 2019 | 87 minutes | Justin Chon

Opens October 4, 2019

Kasie (Tiffany Chu) struggles to take care of her comatose father, making ends meet as a Koreatown karaoke hostess.

"The burden of familial obligation permeates Ms. Purple—who carries it and who passes it off, who outruns it and who lets it overrun them. It's a ripe topic Chon clearly feels deeply, rendered in beautiful cinematography and delicate storytelling."—Jude Dry, Indiewire

Though Kasie's work obligations often cross the line into illegal activities, navigating and succumbing to obnoxious, drunk businessmen who paw her and treat her as property, she's more than able to handle herself, and has even snagged herself a wealthy sugar daddy in the process. But when her father's in-home nurse leaves her in the lurch, she calls her estranged brother Carey (Teddy Lee), demanding that he make good on his family obligations. As the two siblings reconnect, they enter a period of intense self-reflection that will test their familial loyalties and expose the regrets of lives not yet fully lived.
