Archetypes: Exploring Characters on Screen
Ages 9-11
August 12 - 16, 2024
A magician, a hero, and an outlaw all have one thing in common: They are tried and true character archetypes in art across many mediums. Campers will explore the 12 literary archetypes, their weaknesses and strengths, and how to avoid stereotypes in an immersive filmmaking environment. Co-lead by an experienced SCT teaching artist and SIFF Filmmaking instructor, this weeklong camp experience will invite students ages 9-11 years old to explore visual storytelling and create character-driven films both in front of and behind the camera. The week will culminate in a film festival at the SIFF Film Center on Friday afternoon at 3pm to invite friends and family to enjoy their camper’s work.
