What secrets lie in the depths of an abandoned castle in the French countryside? In The Songbird's Secret, nine-year-old Lucie journeys to her archaeologist mother's hometown, Bectoile, to join her in an excavation for her holiday break. When her mother is reluctant to speak about her childhood growing up in the town, Lucie finds herself following two mischievous songbirds on a quest to solve a mystery that upends her family forever. With her new friend Yann and dog friend Mandrin, the trio investigate rumors of a wizard living in the dark forest, take care of a sick baby badger, and grapple with a silly goose on the loose. Utilizing over 2,000 cut paper puppets, this sumptuous stop motion animation renders the enchanting story with dazzling depth of field.
