Paul Leduc’s most critically acclaimed film, Frida, naturaleza viva (Frida Still Life), is a highly expressionist and lyrical work on the famous Mexican painter Frida Kahlo
Screening begins at 6:30pm, free admission.
As a young woman, Frida Kahlo (Ofelia Medina) is severely injured in a bus accident, causing her persistent pain that lingers for most of her life. Still, Kahlo channels that anguish into her painting, becoming a celebrated artist, both in Mexico and abroad. She marries fellow painter Diego Rivera (Juan José Gurrola), but their rocky relationship also causes her grief. In addition to her art, Kahlo has a passion for political causes, even forming a friendship with Leon Trotsky (Max Kerlow).
