Kunsel (Tenzin Kunsel) is a shy, introverted teen who feels alienated from the insular community of Tibetan immigrants living in a Toronto housing community. To entertain herself during endless card games and stifling potlucks, she resorts to petty theft of various objects, one of which is a digital camcorder that she uses to secretly spy on her neighbors. When a new couple moves in, Kunsel gravitates toward the young wife, Passang (Sonam Choekyi), who shares her quiet restlessness. They begin to take regular train trips together outside the residential block, visiting nearby parks along the lake. As their bond grows, Kunsel learns of an investment Passang's husband has made in a dhikuti, a communal fund collected by the residents and distributed to one winner each month. While the growing sum in the dhikuti stirs Kunsel's kleptomaniacal tendencies, it also causes Passang to subtly manipulate others into ensuring that her husband wins the pot. In Tibetan-Canadian director Kunsang Kyirong's meditative debut feature, about half of the film is seen cinéma vérité–style through the lens of Kunsel's purloined camera, providing a voyeuristic view of the gradually unfolding plot and the converging and diverging aims of the two enigmatic women.
