At a prestigious South African all-girls' boarding school where reputation is everything and conformity is an unspoken rule, awkward, daydreamy seventeen-year-old Luthando (Esihle Ndleleni) has learned to take up as little space as possible. Though inside her head, entire worlds are in full bloom.

Everything changes when Ayanda (Muadi Ilung) enrolls. Confident, magnetic, and unconcerned with the school's social order, she draws Luthando out of herself and into unfamiliar territory. Before long, the two are caught up in a secret romance, drawing Luthando into Ayanda's crew of confident, carefree friends and a side of school life she never knew existed. When jealousy drives Ayanda toward a decision that puts Luthando's scholarship at risk, her future and her relationship with her mother are suddenly on the line.

Director Sandulela Asanda gives Luthando's rich interior life a visual language of its own. Daydreams and imagined conversations flicker across the screen with humor and warmth, capturing the specific chaos of being seventeen and feeling everything all at once. What Luthando discovers is the one thing no institution can teach you: the courage to be fully yourself.
