The sweet faces of teen high school girls mask their rebellions and tough choices they face. Korean female director Yoo Jae-In's film (which screened at the 2026 Berlin International Film Festival) lays out a web of secrets centering on a student Yun-ji's (Sim Su-bin) pregnancy with her teacher's child. His suicide brings her in contact with his actual wife and she must decide whether to abort or keep his baby. Her best friend and roommate Kyung-sun (Lee Ji-won), is drawn into the web with sympathy, and then anger over Yun-ji's theft of her money gained from selling drugs. But she also hides the secret that her own mother gave her up for adoption. The photography of interior domestic scenes, script and acting are clear and meaningful. Kyung-Sun, the roommate, is our overseer, as the film brings forth taboo subjects in Korean students' lives, but also their parents' dire struggles. The director has not made a judgmental film, but an exploration of several mother-child scenarios in a time fraught with economic tension.
