After his most recent breakup and on the verge of retirement, Vicente (José Ramón Soroiz—winner of the 2026 Goya Award for Best Lead Actor and the Silver Shell for Best Leading Performance at the San Sebastián International Film Festival) rediscovers a sense of youth in the tourist haven of Maspalomas—a pilgrimage site for gay men of all ages seeking fleeting connections and moments of intimacy. But his newfound freedom is abruptly interrupted when a stroke turns his life upside down. At the insistence of his daughter, he is placed in a nursing home, a decision that effectively forces him back into the closet. Within this unfamiliar environment, Vicente must navigate a space where his identity is neither acknowledged nor welcomed. Maspalomas tells this story with intimacy and sensitivity, using recent history as a mirror to explore the most difficult confinement of all: the one we impose on ourselves. José Ramón Soroiz carries the film with a deeply natural and affecting performance, conveying through a single gaze the inner struggle of a man searching for a way forward. What follows is a moving journey of rediscovery, as Vicente finds himself reliving a process of liberation he believed was long behind him.
