Award-winning director Brett Morgen joins the show to discuss his new documentary Jane, an intimate portrait of trailblazing conservationist Jane Goodall. Drawing from over 100 hours of never-before-seen footage from National Geographic archives for over 50 years, Jane follows a woman whose chimpanzee research challenged the male-dominated scientific consensus of her time and revolutionized our understanding of the natural world. Brett talks about what drew him to Jane's story, how he re-edited the film to match composer Phillip Glass' score, and how documentaries are sometimes more a reflection of the filmmakers than the subject. Jane opens at SIFF Cinema Uptown on Friday 12/1.
