Director of The Breadwinner
On the newest episode of SIFFcast, we welcome director Nora Twomey to talk about her acclaimed new film The Breadwinner. Nora is an Irish animator and filmmaker and a partner in Cartoon Saloon, an animation studio and production company responsible for the Academy Award-nominated films The Secret of Kells and Song of the Sea. The Breadwinner tells the story of Parvana, an 11-year-old girl growing up under the Taliban in Afghanistan in 2001 who disguises herself as a boy in order to support her family. Nora talks about what drew her to the story, making the film while undergoing chemotherapy and working with Executive Producer, Angelina Jolie.
