New microsite will pay tribute to SIFF’s 45-year history

SEATTLE — May 7, 2020 — Telescope Film, the definitive resource for international film in the US, in collaboration with the Seattle International Film Festival, is proud to announce the launch of the SIFF Retrospective 2020 microsite: telescopefilm.com/SIFFretrospective.

The SIFF Retrospective 2020 microsite will showcase all of the films that have won awards at SIFF in its 45-year history that are currently available online, with links to where to watch them.

SIFF Retrospective 2020The films will include winners of the Golden Space Needle, SIFF's audience choice awards, as well as juried awards including the Official Competition, the New Directors Competition, the Documentary Competition, the New American Cinema Competition, and the Ibero-American Competition. The site will be live from May 14 to June 7, the dates for which the 2020 festival was originally scheduled. The 2020 edition of SIFF was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Film festivals are one of the primary ways that films are introduced to audiences. Unfortunately, COVID-19 has caused the cancellation of film festivals all over the world. Under these unique circumstances, we wanted to take the opportunity to celebrate SIFF and recognize its importance by looking back at some of the amazing films that have played here over the years," said Justine Barda, CEO of Telescope Film and Senior Programmer at SIFF.

"The Seattle International Film Festival has celebrated outstanding international and independent film for the last 45 years, and we are thrilled to partner with Telescope to reintroduce and celebrate these incredible award-winning films from SIFF's past," said Beth Barrett, Artistic Director of SIFF. "Through this 25-day retrospective, we hope that people will be able to discover new voices and revisit old favorites."

The SIFF Retrospective 2020 microsite, telescopefilm.com/siffretrospective, will launch on May 14, 2020.
