SIFF Filmmaking Camps

Launch your filmmaking career this summer at SIFF with exciting sessions led by industry professionals in classes that explore science fiction, stop motion animation, editing, horror, and more. These five-day camps are held at the SIFF Film Center between 9:00am–3:00pm and are available for students 9-14. The first session begins August 3, 2026 with options through August 28, 2026.

2026 CAMPS SCHEDULES

SIFF Filmmaking Camp: Stop Motion 1 | August 3-7 | 9am-3pm | Ages 9-11
Calling all fans of Nightmare Before Christmas, Wallace and Gromit, and Coraline! Campers will be immersed in the fantastical world of stop-motion animation as they create new worlds through multiple mediums, including paper and clay. Campers learn how to script, storyboard, shoot, and edit films in this week-long immersive filmmaking experience. The week will culminate in a film festival at the SIFF Film Center on Friday afternoon at 3pm to invite friends and family to enjoy their camper’s work.

SIFF Filmmaking Camp: Stop Motion 2 | August 10-14  | 9am-3pm | Ages 12-14
Calling all fans of Nightmare Before Christmas, Wallace and Gromit, and Coraline! Campers will be immersed in the fantastical world of stop-motion animation as they create new worlds through multiple mediums, including paper and clay. Campers learn how to script, storyboard, shoot, and edit films in this week-long immersive filmmaking experience. The week will culminate in a film festival at the SIFF Film Center on Friday afternoon at 3pm to invite friends and family to enjoy their camper’s work. No prior animation experience necessary.

SIFF Filmmaking Camp: Science-Fiction | August 17-21 | 9am-3pm | Ages 9-11
Send characters into outer space, underwater, or into the fiery heart of a volcano as campers develop their green screen skills with professional filmmaker mentors. Exploring the genre of science-fiction, campers learn how to script, storyboard, shoot, and edit films in this week-long immersive filmmaking experience. The week will culminate in a film festival at the SIFF Film Center on Friday afternoon at 3pm to invite friends and family to enjoy their camper’s work.

SIFF Filmmaking Camp: Horror  | August 24-28 | 9am-3pm | Ages 12-14
Explore the darkest bounds of your imagination as you learn how to incorporate editing, green screen, and in-camera tricks into your next scary movie. Using new special effects skills in their arsenal, campers will explore the genre of horror* and bring their wildest screams to the big screen. Campers learn how to script, storyboard, shoot, and edit films in this week-long immersive filmmaking experience. The week will culminate in a film festival at the SIFF Film Center on Friday afternoon at 3pm to invite friends and family to enjoy their camper’s work.
