From post WWII (Bicycle Thieves, An American in Rome) to present day (Big Night, Facing Windows) Italian film culture has been inextricably connected with Italian food. What is it about pasta, pizza, bread, wine, and sumptuous desserts that are so very Italian? This cultural adventure examines how food is the key to Italian’s own histories and sense of culture; tying families together and becoming an integral part of their identity. ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Dr. Antonio Iannotta is a film curator and a professor of Italian Studies at University of San Diego. He has published essays and articles on film, TV series, comics, literature and media theory, as well as the volumes "Lo sguardo sottratto. Samuel Beckett e I media" (2006) and "Il cinema audiotattile. Suono e immagine nell'esperienza filmica" (2017). He was Editorial Director for Comicon Edizioni where he edited comics and essays on authors and major Italian publishing houses and beyond. He is the Artistic Director of the San Diego Italian Film Festival.
