SIFF Announces Eight New Films Sponsored by TV5Monde as Part of the 2017 French Cinema Now Mini-Festival

SEATTLE --- August 28, 2017 --- SIFF's hugely popular festival of French language films, French Cinema Now, is celebrating six years in partnership with TV5Monde, bringing the best of Francophone films from across the globe. This year eight of the twenty films playing during the week-long event will be debuting on TV5Monde Cinema On Demand after the festival.

This year, the TV5Monde selections feature three US premieres as well as an impressive array of international talent like Belgian director Marion Hänsel, Tunisian director Karim Dridi, and actors Gemma Arterton, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Audrey Tautou, and Sergi López. The films are:

Chouf - d. Karim Dridi , US Premiere
When Sofiane's brother is gunned down, he abandon's his studies to avenge his brother's murder.

The Eavesdropper - d. Thomas Kruithof
A tense thriller about a man who takes a job that plunges him into danger and political intrigue.

Mum's Wrong - d. Mark Fitoussi
Anouk's relationship to her mother reveals a surprising side to the woman that she never knew.

Open at Night - d. Edouard Baer
Chaos ensues as Luigi (Edouard Baer) goes on a quest through the streets of Paris to find a trained monkey to perform in his show, or risk losing his theater. Also starring Audrey Tautou.

Orphan - d. Arnaud des Palleres, US Premiere
In this compelling drama four different actresses portray a woman's struggle to move beyond her past. Starring Gemma Arterton and Adèle Exarchopoulos.

Paris la Blanche - d. Lidla Terki
70 year-old Reka must leave Algeria to find her missing husband in Paris.

Superlovers - d. Guilhem Amesland, US Premiere
When Michel falls in love with a client, he must keep his conniving brother Franck from ruining everything.

Upstream - d. Marion Hänsel
Two brothers head into the Croatian wilderness hoping to discover more about their father's death. Starring Sergi López and Olivier Gourmet.
